Jeanne Marie Tripplehorn (born Jeanne Marie Tripplehorn) is an American actor working in television, film and theater. An accomplished thespian, she has been performing professionally for her early teens for the past 27 years. Her stage debut was in the year 1990 when she appeared on Broadway with an Off-Broadway version of The Big Funk directed by John Patrick Shanley. Her next role was her first television role, The Perfect Tribute. In 1992 she got her breakthrough by being a part of the film Basic Instinct as a minor role. The Firm marked her first part as a female lead actress. She was paired with Tom Cruise and Gene Hackman. Through the 1990s she collaborated with some of the biggest stars in the industry including Gwyneth Paltrow in Sliding Doors, Hugh Grant in Mickey Blue Eyes and Julie Andrews in Relative Values. She played the role of Dr. Alex Blake on the popular international police procedural show Criminal Minds.
